Below: On October 24, 2010, a plane comes in for a landing on the north side of Galveston Island. This was shot from the boat launch area on 61st Street near I-45. This is across the water from Moody Gardens. From that location, there are just a few days each fall when you see the sun set over the water. There is another opportunity in February when the sun makes its slow journey back north.

Above: Dixie Farm Road Park, January 25, 2011. The park is in Harris County near Pearland. The "lake" in the background is a wastewater detention pond which holds water only after a heavy rainfall. The South Belt Hike and Bike Trail loops around the perimeter of the basin. After this deluge, Texas went into a long drought with no major rainfall until the end of the year.
